Description

Fast-Acting Fuse 3A 250 Vac, 1.25 Inch Length, Ferrule End Connection

Features

  • The Bussmann AGC-3-R is a standard 1/4" x 1-1/4" (6.3 x 32mm) glass tube fuse. This is one of the most common fuse sizes in North America, widely used in older automotive applications, marine accessories, and a vast array of electronic power supplies found in Canadian homes and workshops. The "R" suffix indicates that the fuse is RoHS compliant (lead-free).
  • This fuse is rated for 3 Amps at 250V AC. It is a Fast-Acting fuse, meaning it is designed to blow quickly when an overcurrent occurs. This rapid response is critical for protecting sensitive electronic components that cannot withstand even brief surges, though it may be prone to "nuisance trips" in devices with high initial power spikes (like large motors).
  • The clear glass body provides a simple, "no-meter-required" way to check for failure. You can easily see if the internal wire filament is broken or if there is a dark "burn" mark inside the tube, which usually indicates a high-energy short circuit. This makes troubleshooting fast and accessible for both DIYers and maintenance pros.
  • As a glass-bodied fuse, the AGC series has a Low Breaking Capacity. It is rated to safely interrupt 100A at 250V or 10,000A at 125V. It is intended for use in low-power applications; for high-energy industrial panels where massive fault currents are possible, a ceramic-bodied fuse (like the ABC series) with a higher interrupting rating is generally required.
  • The AGC-3-R features nickel-plated brass endcaps. This plating provides excellent electrical conductivity while resisting the oxidation and corrosion that can occur in humid Canadian environments, such as in marine or unheated garage applications. This ensures the fuse remains reliable over many years of service.
