Its octagonal shape is the industry standard for providing a stable mounting surface for round or square light fixture canopies, ensuring a professional, flush-to-ceiling finish.
- With a 1-1/2 inch ($38\text{ mm}$) depth and a 15.0 cubic inch capacity, this box is sized for standard NMD90 (Romex) wiring. It offers enough volume for a single light fixture connection and its associated conductors, making it a "go-to" choice for Canadian contractors installing pot lights, hallway fixtures, or wall sconces in shallow ceiling or wall cavities.
- The "BAR" (or BAR/B) suffix indicates it includes a built-in side mounting bracket. This bracket features a 7/16-inch setback, perfectly aligned for a single layer of 1/2" drywall. The bracket allows you to nail or screw the box directly to the side of a wood or steel stud, providing a much more rigid and secure mounting point than a bracketless box.
