How does SmartAmp help with limited home electrical capacity?

SmartAmp monitors household electrical demand and adjusts EV charging output automatically. When the home is using more electricity, it reduces charging output; when other loads fall, it can increase output again. Monitoring uses the current transformers included with Schneider Charge. SmartAmp load management continues to operate without a Wi-Fi connection.

Planning a Schneider Charge installation?

A qualified electrician should review the home electrical service, the wiring route and the vehicle connector before ordering or installing the charger.

1. Confirm the vehicle connector

Select NACS (J3400) or J1772 based on the vehicle's charge port and any relevant adapter requirements.

2. Assess electrical capacity

Review panel and service capacity and determine whether SmartAmp managed-load installation is permitted by the local AHJ.

3. Install and commission

Hardwire the unit and configure it according to the Schneider Charge installation guide; eSetup supports commissioning.
