    Modicon MCM RS485 Safe Communication Expansion Module, IP20, 1 Port

    Features

    • This Modicon MCM RS485 expansion module acts as a dedicated 1-way safe line transmitter or receiver, allowing automation engineers to connect remote I/O expansions up to 50 meters (164 feet) away via a single shielded cable. It provides an efficient way to distribute safety architecture across massive machine footprints while maintaining high-speed, deterministic safe communication.
    • The unit plugs directly onto standard Omega 35mm DIN rails and connects seamlessly to the main Modicon safety controller (such as the XPSMCMCP0802 or XPSMCMC10804) via a wireless backplane bus connector. This intelligent slide-and-lock configuration eliminates complex, time-consuming point-to-point point manual wiring inside your main control enclosure.
    • Outfitted with removable terminal blocks featuring captive screw clamps, this module allows for rapid, plug-and-play field servicing. If a replacement is ever needed, maintenance technicians can swap out the hardware chassis instantly without rewiring the field lines, minimizing production downtime and eliminating terminal wiring errors.
    • The front face features four dedicated status LEDs that provide instant, clear visual diagnostics for Power (PWR), Running state (RUN), internal device faults (E IN), and external network errors (E EX). This immediate feedback allows operators to quickly distinguish between a simple configuration mismatch and an external RS485 line break, speeding up troubleshooting cycles.
