Features
- The Hubbell HVB2BAR is a protective Vapour/Air Barrier designed to prevent the penetration of outside air into a building's interior. In the Canadian climate, sealing electrical boxes on exterior walls is a critical step in maintaining energy efficiency and preventing drafts, condensation, and moisture buildup inside the wall cavity.
- This model is a 2-gang (Double-Gang) barrier. It is specifically engineered to fit snugly over:4" Square metal or plastic boxes (using a 2-gang device ring/mud ring).Standard 2-gang device boxes.Its universal design ensures a tight friction-fit that effectively "wraps" the back and sides of the electrical box.
- Manufactured from high-quality polyethylene (polymer), the HVB2BAR is much more reliable than using standard vapour barrier film and red tuck-tape alone. It provides a pre-formed, consistent seal that won't sag or peel over time, ensuring the building envelope remains intact for the life of the structure.
- The back of the barrier features small molded bumps or dimples. These serve as guides that allow you to precisely cut or puncture small holes just large enough for your cables (NMD90/Loomex). Because the material is flexible, it creates a "gasket" effect around the wire as it enters the box, minimizing air leakage.
- The "flat contour" design of the HVB2BAR is intentional. It eliminates unnecessary bulk behind the box, ensuring that the electrical box can be mounted flush with the studs. This prevents "bulging" in the drywall and allows for a much better seal between the drywall and the electrical device plate.
