Features
- The Mersen GGM2 is a 2-Amp, 250V AC "midget" fuse. Measuring the standard 13/32" times 1-1/2" (10 x 38 mm), it is designed for supplemental protection. Being fast-acting, it lacks the time-delay needed for motors and is instead engineered to "blow" instantly when its current rating is exceeded, protecting sensitive electronic components from quick spikes.
- In addition to its 250V AC rating, the GGM2 is also rated for 500V DC. This makes it a popular choice for Canadian solar (PV) applications, DC control circuits, and industrial instrumentation where high-voltage DC protection is required in a compact form factor.
- Unlike ceramic-bodied fuses, the GGM series features a clear glass body. This allows maintenance personnel in Canadian facilities to visually confirm if the fuse has blown without needing a multimeter. If the internal element is broken or the glass is darkened, the fault is immediately obvious, saving time during troubleshooting.
- At 125V AC, the GGM2 has an interrupting rating of 10,000 Amps. While this is lower than Class CC fuses (like the ATMR series), it is more than sufficient for supplemental protection inside control panels where the available fault current has already been limited by primary branch fuses or transformers.
- The end caps are made of nickel-plated brass. This ensures a high-quality electrical connection and prevents the oxidation that can occur in humid Canadian industrial environments, such as pulp and paper mills or water treatment plants.
