Description
Tri-Onic TRS-R current-limiting time-delay fuses are engineered for overcurrent protection of motors, transformers, service entrance equipment, feeders and branch-circuits. The time-delay characteristics of the TRS-R safely handle harmless starting currents and inrush currents associated with today's motors and transformers.
Features
- The TRS10R is a 10-Amp, 600V AC Class RK5 dual-element, time-delay fuse. As part of Mersen's Tri-Onic® line, it is a versatile "workhorse" fuse used extensively across Canada to protect motors, transformers, and general feeder circuits.
- The "time-delay" feature is specifically engineered to handle the inrush current created when a motor starts or a transformer is energized. It can carry 500% of its rated current for a minimum of 10 seconds. This prevents "nuisance blowing" during normal equipment startup while still providing fast protection against dangerous short circuits.
- The "R" suffix indicates this is a rejection-style fuse. It features a unique notched end-cap that, when used with a Class R fuse holder, prevents the accidental installation of older, non-current-limiting fuses (like Class H or K). This ensures the electrical system maintains its safety and current-limiting ratings.
- Rated for 200,000 Amps Interrupting Capacity (AIC), the TRS10R can safely extinguish massive electrical faults without the fuse body rupturing. This makes it suitable for use in heavy industrial environments, mining operations, and commercial high-voltage panels.
- While primarily used for 600V 3-phase systems (a standard in Canadian industry), this fuse is also rated for 600V DC. This makes it an excellent choice for protecting DC bus circuits, solar power systems, or battery backup arrays.
