Description
Tri-Onic TRS-R current-limiting time-delay fuses are engineered for overcurrent protection of motors, transformers, service entrance equipment, feeders and branch-circuits. The time-delay characteristics of the TRS-R safely handle harmless starting currents and inrush currents associated with today's motors and transformers.
Features
- The TRS20R is a 20-Amp, 600V Class RK5 Tri-Onic® fuse. It features a specialized rejection notch in the blade, ensuring it fits into any standard Class R fuse block or disconnect switch while preventing the accidental installation of non-rejection fuses with lower interrupting ratings.
- Engineered with advanced time-delay properties, the TRS20R is designed to "ride through" the temporary high inrush currents of motors and transformers. This prevents nuisance tripping during equipment startup, while still providing reliable, long-term protection against sustained overloads that could damage motor windings.
- As a current-limiting fuse, the TRS20R reacts in less than half a cycle during a short circuit to significantly limit the peak "let-through" energy (I^2t). This protects downstream components like contactors and circuit breakers from the massive thermal and magnetic stresses of a fault, often allowing for Type 2 "No Damage" protection.
- With a massive 200,000 Amp RMS interrupting rating, this fuse can be safely applied in locations with very high available fault current. It provides a robust safety margin for industrial and commercial service entrances, ensuring the fuse can safely clear a catastrophic short circuit without exploding.
- The Mersen TRS20R is UL Listed to Standard 248-12 and CSA Certified. Its dual-element design provides the ultimate balance of time-delay and high-speed protection, making it the industry standard for complying with NEC® and CEC® requirements for motor branch circuit and feeder protection.
