Description

Tri-Onic TR-R current-limiting time-delay fuses are engineered for overcurrent protection of motors, transformers, service entrance equipment, feeders and branch-circuits. The time-delay characteristics of the TR-R safely handle harmless starting currents and inrush currents associated with today's motors and transformers.

Features

  • The Mersen TR15R is a 15-Amp, 250V AC Class RK5 dual-element fuse. It is one of the most common fuses found in Canadian residential and light commercial electrical systems, designed to provide "Type 2" (No-Damage) protection for both general-duty circuits and small motor loads.
  • This fuse features a time-delay characteristic that allows it to "ride through" the temporary high-current inrush of 120V or 240V motors (like those in furnace blowers or air conditioners). It will hold 500% of its rated current for at least 10 seconds, preventing nuisance trips during startup while still providing precise protection against sustained overloads.
  • The TR15R is a current-limiting fuse, meaning it reacts to short circuits with extreme speed. It clears faults so quickly that it prevents the current from reaching its full destructive peak. This protects your wire insulation, switches, and connected appliances from the intense heat and magnetic forces of a fault.
  • With a 200,000 Amp Interrupting Rating (AIC), this fuse is engineered to safely clear massive short-circuit currents. This ensures that even under severe fault conditions at the service entrance, the fuse will contain the energy safely without rupturing or causing an arc-flash hazard.
  • The "R" in TR15R indicates a rejection-style grooved end-cap. When installed in a compatible Class R fuse block, this physical feature prevents the accidental insertion of older, non-current-limiting Class H or K fuses. This ensures your system always maintains the high level of safety required by modern building codes.
