Description

Tri-Onic TR-R current-limiting time-delay fuses are engineered for overcurrent protection of motors, transformers, service entrance equipment, feeders and branch-circuits. The time-delay characteristics of the TR-R safely handle harmless starting currents and inrush currents associated with today's motors and transformers.

Features

  • The Mersen TR20R is a 20-Amp Class RK5 Tri-Onic® fuse featuring a sophisticated dual-element design. It is engineered to provide a minimum 10-second time delay at 500% of its rated current, allowing it to "ride through" the temporary inrush of motors and transformers without nuisance tripping. This keeps your Canadian facility running smoothly by eliminating unnecessary downtime during equipment cycles.
  • The "R" designation signifies a rejection-style end cap. When used with a Class R fuse holder, this physical safety feature prevents the accidental installation of older, non-current-limiting Class H or K fuses. This ensures your panelboard always maintains its engineered safety rating and remains fully compliant with the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC).
  • Despite its compact size, the TR20R boasts a massive 200,000 Amp (200kA) interrupting capacity at 250V AC. This high rating is essential for modern industrial and commercial panels where available fault currents can be extremely high, ensuring the fuse safely clears short circuits without the risk of the fuse body rupturing or causing an arc flash.
  • As a current-limiting fuse, the TR20R reacts in less than half a cycle to "choke" a short circuit before it reaches its destructive peak. By significantly lowering the "let-through" energy (I^2t), it protects downstream components like contactors, bus bars, and electronic controllers from thermal and mechanical stress during a fault.
