Description
Tri-Onic TRS-R current-limiting time-delay fuses are engineered for overcurrent protection of motors, transformers, service entrance equipment, feeders and branch-circuits. The time-delay characteristics of the TRS-R safely handle harmless starting currents and inrush currents associated with today's motors and transformers.
Features
- The Mersen TRS70R is a 70-Amp Class RK5 Tri-Onic® fuse. As a dual-element fuse, it provides a minimum 10-second time delay at 500% of its rating. This is specifically engineered to "ride through" the massive inrush currents of large motors and transformers, preventing nuisance trips that would otherwise halt production in Canadian industrial facilities.
- The "R" designation indicates a rejection-style blade. When used in a Class R fuse holder, this physical feature prevents the accidental installation of older, non-current-limiting Class H or K fuses. This "fool-proof" design ensures your panelboard remains compliant with the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and maintains its high short-circuit safety rating.
- With a massive 200,000 Amp (200kA) interrupting capacity at 600V AC, the TRS70R can safely extinguish extreme electrical arcs. This level of protection is essential for primary branch circuits in hospitals, mines, and manufacturing plants where available fault currents are high enough to cause catastrophic equipment failure.
- As a current-limiting fuse, the TRS70R reacts in less than half a cycle during a short circuit. It "chokes" the fault before it reaches its destructive peak, significantly lowering the "let-through" energy (I^2t). This protects delicate contactors, VFDs, and bus bars from the thermal and mechanical stresses of an electrical surge.
- The TRS70R is uniquely versatile, carrying a full 600V AC and 600V DC rating (with 100kA interrupting capacity on the DC side). This makes it an ideal choice for protecting DC motor drives, large battery arrays, and solar power combiners, allowing maintenance teams to standardize their inventory with one high-performance fuse.
