Description
Stab-Lok circuit breakers are one, two, and three pole thermal magnetic circuit breakers that provide arc fault circuit interrupters for Federal Pioneer panels. They have easy to read color coded handles to differentiate ampere ratings. This breaker is a two pole 30A, 120/240VAC moulded case breaker with bolt on mounting. This circuit breaker meets CSA standards.
Features
- The Schneider Electric NB230 is a 30-Amp, 2-pole thermal-magnetic circuit breaker from the Federal Pioneer Stab-lok line. While Schneider Electric now owns the brand, Federal Pioneer remains one of the most widely installed electrical systems in older Canadian commercial and industrial buildings. The NB230 is specifically designed as a replacement or expansion component for these legacy systems.
- The "NB" prefix indicates that this is a bolt-on breaker. Unlike the "NA" series, which plugs into a busbar, the NB230 features a mounting screw that physically bolts the breaker to the panelboard's bus. This provides a more permanent, vibration-resistant connection, which is a standard requirement for Canadian commercial panelboards and industrial distribution centers.
- Rated for 30 Amps at 120/240V AC, this 2-pole breaker is the workhorse for mid-sized electrical loads. In a typical Canadian facility, you will find the NB230 protecting equipment like commercial water heaters, small air conditioning units, electric baseboard heaters, or specialized shop machinery that requires two "hot" legs of power.
- A hallmark of the Stab-lok system is the color-coded handle. For a 30-Amp breaker like the NB230, the handle is typically Green. This allows an electrician or maintenance manager to scan a large panelboard and instantly identify the amperage of each circuit without having to read the fine print on the side of the breaker.
- With a 10kA (10,000 AIR) interrupting rating, the NB230 is built to safely clear standard electrical faults. It ensures that if a short circuit occurs, the breaker will trip and interrupt the current before damage can occur to the downstream wiring or the panelboard itself, maintaining compliance with the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC).
