Description
Mersen fuse reducers allow the use of lower rated fuses in existing equipment having clips with higher ampere ratings. The use of closer rated time-delay fuses can improve circuit protection. For example, renewable or one-time fuses feeding a motor can be replaced with fuses sized closer to the motor nameplate current. Non-rejection reducers will allow Class H, K or R fuses to fit Class H or K clips. Rejection-type reducers will allow only Class R fuses to fit Class R clips or only Class J fuses to fit Class J clips. Class J fuse reducers are not for bolt on applications.

By sliding these reducers onto the ends of a 60A fuse, you bridge the physical gap between the smaller fuse body and the 100A clips, saving the significant time and expense of replacing an entire fused disconnect or power distribution block.
- Constructed from high-conductivity copper alloy with a protective tin plating, these reducers are built to maintain a low-resistance electrical path. The robust spring-tension design ensures a tight, permanent grip on the fuse ferrules, preventing the arcing and localized heating that can occur with poor-quality or loose-fitting aftermarket adapters.
- The J166 is rated for use in systems up to 600V AC, matching the standard voltage of Class J overcurrent protection. It is designed to adapt any 35A to 60A Class J fuse into a 100A circuit, providing a versatile "toolbox essential" for Canadian electricians managing diverse power distribution requirements in manufacturing, mining, and commercial settings.
