Features
- The Bussmann FNQ-R-5 is a Class CC Limitron™ fuse, specifically engineered for high-performance "Branch Circuit" protection. It is a current-limiting device, meaning it reacts within milliseconds to "clamp" a short circuit before the current can reach its full destructive peak. This is critical for meeting Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) requirements for protecting sensitive control transformers and industrial automation components.
- As a Class CC fuse, the FNQ-R-5 features a specialized physical rejection tip. This ensures it can only be installed in a dedicated Class CC fuse holder (like the Bussmann CHCC series), preventing the accidental installation of standard "midget" fuses that lack the high interrupting rating and current-limiting capabilities required by code for branch circuit protection.
- Featuring Time-Delay characteristics, this 5-Amp fuse is specifically optimized to handle the massive momentary current surges (inrush) common when powering up control transformers. It provides a minimum 12-second delay at 200% of its rated current, allowing equipment to start without "nuisance blowing" while still offering rapid response to dangerous faults.
- The FNQ-R-5 is fully rated for 600V AC and boasts a massive 200,000 Amp Interrupting Rating (AIR). This ultra-high fault capacity allows it to be used safely in virtually any industrial environment in Canada, ensuring the fuse will safely quench the arc even when connected to a high-energy service entrance.
- The Class CC size (13/32" x 1-1/2") is the smallest branch-circuit rated fuse available. This allows Canadian panel builders to provide heavy-duty protection in a very small footprint, enabling the design of more compact and cost-effective control cabinets for HVAC, manufacturing, and automation systems.
