Description
Amp-Trap ATMR fast-acting fuses are the smallest dimension 600V fuses suitable for branch-circuit protection. The ATMR is a popular choice for economical protection of control circuits and control circuit transformers where available short circuit currents exceed 10,000 amperes. ATMR's rejection dimensions prevent substitution by lesser rated fuses. These fast-acting fuses give current-limiting protection to general circuits.
Features
- The Mersen ATMR2 is a 2-Amp, 600V AC Class CC fuse from the Amp-Trap® 2000 family. It is a fast-acting (non-time-delay) fuse designed specifically for "branch circuit" protection. Because it lacks a time-delay mechanism, it is engineered to clear electrical faults almost instantaneously, providing the highest level of protection for non-inductive loads.
- As a Class CC fuse, the ATMR2 features a unique "rejection tip" on one end. This physical design ensures that it can only be installed in a Class CC fuse holder (like the Mersen USCC series). This is a critical safety feature of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), as it prevents someone from accidentally replacing a high-performance Class CC fuse with a standard midget fuse that has a much lower interrupting rating.
- Rated for 600V AC, the ATMR2 is ideal for the high-voltage systems common in Canadian industrial plants. While it can be used on 120V, 208V, or 480V systems, its 600V rating makes it a "one-size-fits-all" solution for control transformers and lighting ballasts across the country.
- Despite its small size (13/32" times 1-1/2"), the ATMR2 has a massive 200kA interrupting rating. This means it can safely stop the flow of electricity during a catastrophic short circuit without exploding or venting ionized gas. This high rating is essential for equipment located near large utility transformers in Canadian manufacturing hubs.
- The ATMR2 is the industry standard for protecting the primary side of control transformers. Because it is fast-acting, it provides superior protection against short circuits. However, users should ensure the fuse is sized correctly to handle the initial "magnetizing inrush" of the transformer without nuisance blowing.
