Description
Tri-Onic TRS-R current-limiting time-delay fuses are engineered for overcurrent protection of motors, transformers, service entrance equipment, feeders and branch-circuits. The time-delay characteristics of the TRS-R safely handle harmless starting currents and inrush currents associated with today's motors and transformers.
Features
- The TRS45R is a 45-Amp, 600V AC Class RK5 dual-element, time-delay fuse. It is a workhorse in the Canadian electrical industry, providing versatile overcurrent protection for both motor circuits and general power distribution feeders.
- The "time-delay" feature allows the fuse to withstand temporary current surges, such as the initial startup inrush of a motor. It is designed to carry 500% of its rated current for a minimum of 10 seconds. This prevents "nuisance blowing" while still reacting quickly to dangerous short circuits or sustained overloads that could cause a fire.
- The "R" at the end of the part number indicates it is a Rejection-style fuse. It features a unique notch in one of the brass end-caps. When used with a Class R fuse clip, this notch prevents the accidental installation of older, non-current-limiting Class H or Class K fuses that have lower safety ratings.
- The TRS45R has a 200,000 Amp Interrupting Rating (AIC). This ensures that even under massive fault conditions in a large industrial plant or commercial building, the fuse can safely extinguish the internal arc without the body rupturing.
- While most commonly used on 600V 3-phase systems in Canada, this fuse is also rated for 600V DC. This makes it an excellent choice for protecting DC bus circuits in transit systems, solar arrays, or heavy-duty battery backup systems.
