Description
General duty safety switches are designed for residential and commercial applications where durability and economy are prime considerations. Typical loads include lighting, air conditioning, and appliances. They are suitable for use as service equipment when equipped with a factory-installed neutral assembly or field-installed service grounding kit, as applicable. General duty safety switches are UL® Listed, and meet or exceed the NEMA® Standard KS1. This Single Throw Safety Switch which has a rated current of 60A with a NEMA 1 degree of protection. This fusible disconnect switch comes with a neutral (factory installed). This general duty switch is a 2-pole, 240VAC has a short curcuit rating of 100kA and is surface mounted. This switch has lugs for an electrical connection which will accept AWG 12 AWG 3, aluminium & AWG 14 AWG 3, copper. This switch is certified to UL standards Dinemsions for this product are 14.88 in (H), 7.45 in (W), 4.87 in (D). General Duty safety switchs come with an 18 months warranty.
Features
- This Square D general-duty safety switch functions as a 2-pole fusible disconnect rated for a continuous 60 A load at 240 V AC. It is engineered to provide a reliable manual means of disconnecting power while housing standard plug fuses, making it an excellent solution for residential or light commercial branch circuits, heating systems, and small air conditioning units.
- Equipped with an integrated solid neutral assembly and standard plug fuse holders, this unit provides comprehensive overcurrent and short-circuit protection. It acts as a dedicated protective barrier that safely clears dangerous electrical overloads and faults, preventing expensive thermal damage to downstream machinery and household appliances.
- The internal mechanisms are fully encased in a rugged, heavy-duty NEMA Type 1 sheet steel enclosure designed strictly for indoor utility installations. The durable gray baked enamel finish resists minor abrasions and scuffs, protecting building personnel from live conductors while shielding internal line connections from airborne workshop dust and lint.
- The enclosure features generous interior wire-bending space and is outfitted with multiple concentric knockouts on the top, bottom, and sides to accommodate standard electrical conduit fittings. The pre-installed line and load lugs accept a wide wiring spectrum up to 2 AWG copper or aluminum conductors, drastically reducing installation labor during fast field hookups.
