Description
Schneider Electric's Square D general duty safety switches are designed for residential and light commercial applications where durability and economy are prime considerations. Typical loads include lighting, air conditioning, and appliances. General duty safety switches feature a quick make, quick break operating mechanism. This single throw safety switch is a fusible disconnect and has a rated current of 200A for 120/240VAC. This general duty switch has a 3 wire configuration with 2 poles and a factory installed bonded neutral. The device accepts cartridge fuse types. The enclosure is surface mounted and is a Type 1 galvannealed steel. This switch complies with CSA C22.2.
Features
- This Square D by Schneider Electric general duty disconnect switch is engineered with a robust 200 A current rating at 120/240 V AC, making it perfect for isolating large HVAC units, high-capacity lighting banks, and heavy-duty commercial appliances. The 2-pole, 3-wire single-throw design safely accommodates single-phase and selected three-phase motor loads up to 60 hp, providing building electrical contractors with an efficient power distribution solution.
- Equipped as a fusible disconnect switch, this unit accepts standard cartridge fuses and offers a high-fault short-circuit current rating (SCCR) up to 100 kA when paired with appropriate Class R fuse rejection kits. This high interrupt capacity ensures complete protection downstream, shielding valuable electrical equipment from catastrophic thermal damage during line-side fault events.
- To streamline on-site electrical installations, this safety switch features a factory-installed, solid bonded neutral assembly right out of the box. This built-in configuration allows electrical installers to immediately use the device as a dedicated service entrance disconnect, avoiding the need for separate aftermarket ground/neutral bonding kits.
- Housed in a NEMA Type 1 indoor enclosure constructed from high-grade galvannealed steel, this unit provides exceptional resistance against corrosion and localized mechanical impact. The surface-mounted cabinet utilizes a heavy-duty quick-make, quick-break operating handle mechanism to minimize contact arcing, drastically extending the lifespan of internal copper contact surfaces under frequent cycling.
- Featuring heavy-duty mechanical line and load lugs, the connection blocks are certified to clamp securely onto AWG 6 through 250 kcmil copper or aluminum wiring. The oversized lug housing accommodates thick feeder lines easily, allowing electricians to establish high-torque, low-resistance connections that prevent hot-spot generation over years of continuous load.
