Features
- The Mersen ATQR15 is a 15-Amp, 600V AC Class CC fuse from the Amp-Trap 2000® family. Unlike the fast-acting ATMR series, the ATQR is a time-delay (slow-blow) fuse. It is specifically designed to handle the massive "magnetizing inrush" currents produced when control transformers or solenoids are first energized, preventing the fuse from blowing unnecessarily during a normal start-up.
- As a Class CC fuse, the ATQR15 features a unique rejection tip on its end cap. This physical feature ensures it can only be inserted into a Class CC fuse holder (like the Mersen USCC series). This is a vital safety requirement in the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), as it prevents a high-capacity branch circuit fuse from being replaced by a standard midget fuse that lacks the same interrupting rating.
- Despite its small 13/32" times 1-1/2" size, the ATQR15 has a massive 200kA AC interrupting rating. This allows it to safely clear catastrophic short circuits without rupturing. In Canadian industrial facilities where equipment is often located near large utility transformers, this high rating is essential for maintaining a safe electrical environment.
- The ATQR15 is a current-limiting fuse, meaning it reacts so quickly to a fault that it stops the current from reaching its full destructive peak. This "low peak let-thru" characteristic protects downstream components—like small relays or contactors—from being vaporized during a short circuit, potentially allowing for "Type 2" (no damage) coordination in your control panel.
