ATQR small-dimension fuses feature time-delay characteristics ideally suited for the high inrush currents of control transformers, solenoids, and similar inductive loads. Mersen's Amp-Trap 2000 ATQR fuses provide superior protection for the branch circuits of electrical distribution systems
Features
- The Mersen ATQR20 is a 20-Amp, 600V time-delay fuse from the specialized Amp-Trap® series. As a Class CC fuse, it provides branch circuit protection in a very small footprint (13/32" times 1-1/2"). In Canada, the 20-amp version is a "heavy hitter" in the Class CC family, often used for larger control transformers and small motor loads.
- The "QR" designation signifies a specific time-delay characteristic designed for high-inrush inductive loads. When a control transformer or a large solenoid is first energized, it can pull many times its rated current for a fraction of a second. The ATQR20 is engineered to "ride out" these surges without blowing, while still providing rapid protection against actual short circuits or sustained overloads.
- The ATQR20 features the mandatory Class CC rejection nipple. This physical design ensures it will only fit into a Class CC fuse holder (like the Mersen USCC series). Under the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), this is critical because it prevents the accidental substitution of a standard "midget" fuse, which does not have the same high interrupting rating or branch circuit approval.
- Despite its miniature size, the ATQR20 is rated to safely interrupt up to 200,000 Amps of available fault current at 600V AC. This allows it to be installed safely in industrial panels located close to high-capacity utility transformers, ensuring the fuse clears the fault without the risk of an explosion or fire.
