Description
Amp-Trap 2000® AJT fuses provide non-indication as well as a SmartSpot visual open fuse indicator. With advanced material technology the AJT fuse provides IEC Type 2 No Damage protection to main, feeder, and branch circuits, for all types of loads — yet, they require only half the mounting space needed for 600VAC Class RK fuses. AJT’s time-delay characteristics are ideal for handling typical motor and transformer inrush currents, while also providing superior current-limiting ability.
Features
- The AJT150 is a 150-Amp, 600V AC Class J dual-element, time-delay fuse. As part of Mersen’s Amp-Trap 2000® series, it is designed for "Type 2" (No-Damage) protection. This means that after a short-circuit event, the downstream components (like motor starters and contactors) remain protected and ready for service once the fuse is replaced.
- With its time-delay characteristic, the AJT150 is engineered to ignore the temporary high inrush currents—typically 5 to 10 times the rated current—that occur when starting large motors or energizing transformers. It is rated to carry 500% of its current for at least 10 seconds, preventing unwanted outages during normal equipment startup.
- This fuse provides an incredible 200,000 Amp Interrupting Rating (AIC). Even in facilities with very high available fault current, the AJT150 can safely clear a short circuit without rupturing, significantly enhancing the safety of your electrical room.
- The AJT150 is highly current-limiting. It reacts so quickly to a short circuit that it prevents the fault current from reaching its maximum destructive peak. This drastically lowers the "let-through" energy ($I^2t$), protecting bus bars, breakers, and electronic controllers from mechanical and thermal stress.
- Fuses in the 150-Amp range utilize blade terminals (knife blades) rather than the cylindrical ferrule ends found on smaller fuses. Class J fuses are physically smaller than Class R or Class H fuses of the same rating, allowing for more compact disconnect switches and panelboards in space-constrained Canadian facilities.
