• The AJT80 is an 80-Amp, 600V AC Class J dual-element, time-delay fuse. As part of the Amp-Trap 2000 family, it is designed to provide "Type 2" (No-Damage) protection for motor circuits and main feeders, ensuring that downstream components remain functional even after a major electrical fault.
• Class J fuses like the AJT80 are significantly smaller than equivalent Class R or Class K fuses. This allows Canadian panel builders to design more compact control cabinets without sacrificing power. Despite its smaller size, it still handles a full 600V AC and is the preferred choice for modern industrial machinery.
• This fuse features a time-delay characteristic (minimum 10 seconds at 500% rating). This allows it to "ride through" the high inrush currents typical of 600V industrial motors and transformers, eliminating nuisance tripping while still providing high-speed protection against dangerous short circuits.
• The AJT80 boasts a massive 200,000 Amp Interrupting Rating (AIC). This is the highest standard in the industry, ensuring the fuse can safely extinguish a catastrophic short circuit in the harshest Canadian industrial or mining environments without rupturing.
• The AJT80 is highly current-limiting. In the event of a short circuit, it reacts in less than half a cycle, cutting off the current before it reaches its peak magnitude. This drastically reduces the "let-through" energy (I^2t), protecting sensitive variable frequency drives (VFDs) and contactors from being vaporized during a fault.
