Description
Amp-Trap 2000® AJT fuses provide non-indication as well as a SmartSpot visual open fuse indicator. With advanced material technology the AJT fuse provides IEC Type 2 No Damage protection to main, feeder, and branch circuits, for all types of loads — yet, they require only half the mounting space needed for 600VAC Class RK fuses. AJT’s time-delay characteristics are ideal for handling typical motor and transformer inrush currents, while also providing superior current-limiting ability.

- The Mersen AJT90 is a 90-Amp, 600V industrial power fuse from the premier Amp-Trap 2000® series. As a Class J fuse, it is engineered to provide superior current-limiting protection while occupying significantly less space than older Class R or Class H fuses. It is a staple in Canadian industrial facilities for protecting high-energy branch circuits and motor control centers.
- The standout feature of the AJT90 is the SmartSpot® visual indicator. When the fuse blows, a solid-state indicator on the body changes color (typically to red), allowing a Canadian maintenance technician to identify the failed circuit at a glance without having to pull and test each fuse with a meter. This significantly reduces downtime and improves safety during troubleshooting.
- With a Time-Delay (slow-blow) characteristic, the AJT90 is specifically designed to handle the temporary high-current "inrush" that occurs when a large 3-phase motor or transformer starts up. It provides "IEC Type 2 (No Damage)" protection, meaning it will trip fast enough to protect downstream components during a short circuit but won't "nuisance trip" during normal equipment startup.
- The AJT90 is rated to safely interrupt up to 200,000 Amps (and is self-certified up to 300,000 Amps) at 600V AC. This massive interrupting capacity ensures that even if a catastrophic short circuit occurs near a high-power utility transformer, the fuse will safely clear the fault without exploding or damaging the enclosure.
- At 90 Amps, the AJT90 uses a blade-terminal (knife-blade) body style rather than the ferrule (cylindrical) style used for smaller amperages. Despite its power, it requires only half the mounting space of a standard 600V Class RK fuse, allowing for smaller, more cost-effective fuse blocks and more compact control panels.
