Description
The High Speed Class J (HSJ) combines the low I2t of a semiconductor fuse and the branch-circuit performance of a Class J UL Listed fuse into a single design. The HSJ can provide both branch circuit protection per NEC requirements, as well as very low I2t for protection of power semiconductors such as Diodes, SCRs, GTOs and SSRs.

- The Mersen HSJ40 features an innovative, dual-rated design that eliminates the need to install separate branch-circuit fuses and specialized semiconductor fuses. By satisfying National Electrical Code (NEC) branch-circuit safety regulations while maintaining an ultra-low I^2t thermal let-through, it allows you to consolidate your panel inventory and lower hardware costs without sacrificing downstream safety.
- Built for demanding industrial grids, the HSJ40 boasts a robust 200 kA interrupting rating at 600 VAC (and 100 kA at 500 VDC) to handle intense, high-energy fault conditions without rupturing. This extensive breaking capacity prevents catastrophic arc-flash damage and enclosure failures, keeping your maintenance personnel safe and your facility code-compliant.
- Designed with a standard North American Class J cylindrical footprint (1--1/16 inch diameter by 2--3/8 inches length), this ferrule-terminal fuse slips directly into standard clip mounts and safety switches. Its space-saving design is critical for compact panel builds, while its physical rejection feature prevents dangerous mismatching with lower-rated general-purpose fuses.
