Description
Amp-Trap 2000® AJT fuses provide non-indication as well as a SmartSpot visual open fuse indicator. With advanced material technology the AJT fuse provides IEC Type 2 No Damage protection to main, feeder, and branch circuits, for all types of loads — yet, they require only half the mounting space needed for 600VAC Class RK fuses. AJT’s time-delay characteristics are ideal for handling typical motor and transformer inrush currents, while also providing superior current-limiting ability.

- The Mersen AJT50 is a 50-Amp, 600V AC (500V DC) Class J fuse designed for industrial-grade circuit protection. As a flagship member of the Amp-Trap 2000® series, it combines a time-delay characteristic for handling high-inrush currents with extreme current limitation, making it one of the most effective safety devices for protecting modern electrical distribution systems.
- Engineered with a specialized time-delay (dual-element) design, the AJT50 can withstand the intense momentary current spikes produced when industrial motors or transformers are energized. This eliminates "nuisance tripping" during equipment startup while providing precise thermal protection to prevent the long-term overheating of wires and motor windings.
- This model features Mersen’s proprietary SmartSpot technology, a solid-state visual blown-fuse indicator. When the fuse clears a fault, a high-visibility orange flag or indicator window activates, allowing maintenance personnel to identify the failed circuit immediately from a distance. This significantly reduces downtime and enhances safety by removing the need to test fuses with a meter in a live pane
- The AJT50 is a highly current-limiting device, clearing faults in less than half a cycle. By physically restricting the amount of peak "let-through" energy, it protects downstream contactors and breakers from mechanical damage and significantly lowers Arc Flash incident energy levels, enhancing the safety of the work environment for electrical technicians.
- While standard industrial ratings are often 200kA, the AJT series is self-certified and UL-witnessed for an impressive 300,000 Amp interrupting rating (AIC).
