Features
- Part of the Harmony Control Relays family, this multi-function RM35TM motor monitoring relay provides simultaneous dual-layer protection. It continuously tracks the incoming 3-phase line configuration (intercepting phase sequence errors and phase failure conditions) while simultaneously monitoring motor internal winding temperatures via a direct PTC thermistor probe connection block. For automation engineers, this dual monitoring topology saves both costs and rail space by eliminating the need for independent phase-monitoring and thermal-overload sensor modules.
- The measurement circuit natively supports a broad input voltage ceiling spanning 208V to 480V AC across standard 50/60 Hz networks.
- The temperature control loop functions by measuring dynamic changes in circuit resistance. It triggers a thermal fault condition if the connected PTC probe resistance spikes past a precise tripping threshold of 3,100 Ohms (±10%), and permits a system fault clearing or reset once the winding cools down below 1,650 Ohms (±10%). It also features built-in short-circuit line supervision, instantly flagging a fault if loop resistance drops into the 0 to 20 Ohm bracket due to pinched or shorted sensor wires.
- The relay output is configured with 2 Normally Open (2 NO) independent contact circuits capable of handling a conventional continuous thermal current of 5 Amps at 250V AC or 250V DC (with an AC-15 utilization capacity rating of 1,250 VA). The dual-output design allows automation programmers to map one output contact directly to the main upstream contactor coil loop for an instantaneous motor shutdown, while routing the second independent contact into a PLC input block or local telemetry stack to flag specific phase vs. thermal faults.
- Equipped with high-integrity integrated box screw terminals, the unit accepts single solid wires ranging from 20 AWG up to 11 AWG (0.5 to 4 mm²) or dual flexible conductors with cable end ferrules from 24 AWG down to 16 AWG. Torquing down the terminal contact screws to the manufacturer-specified threshold of 5.31 to 8.85 lbf-in (0.6 to 1.0 N-m) per IEC 60947-1 provides optimal contact pressure that prevents natural conductor cold-flow behavior and eliminates localized hot spots caused by high-vibration control panel grids.
