Description
Features
- The Schneider Square D QO115EPD is an Equipment Protective Device (EPD) designed specifically to protect machinery, not people. While a standard GFCI trips at 5mA to prevent human electrocution, this EPD breaker features a 30mA trip threshold. This prevents "nuisance tripping" caused by the natural leakage current found in industrial heating cables, heat trace systems, and large motor loads while still providing critical fire protection.
- Rated for 15 Amps and 120V, this breaker is the industry standard for protecting 120V equipment that is susceptible to ground fault damage but operates with slight electrical "leakage." It is most commonly used for roof and gutter de-icing tapes, pipe heat tracing, and specialized commercial kitchen equipment where a standard 5mA GFCI would be too sensitive.
- Like all premium QO breakers, this unit includes the Visi-Trip™ red indicator. When the breaker trips, a highly visible red flag appears in the handle window. This allows maintenance staff to instantly distinguish a tripped breaker from one that has simply been turned off, drastically reducing the time spent diagnosing power issues in a crowded panel.
- The QO115EPD features the classic Square D QO plug-on design, allowing it to snap directly onto the bus bar of any QO load center or NQ/NQOD panelboard. It occupies a single 3/4-inch space, making it a compact solution for adding specialized equipment protection without needing to move or reconfigure existing circuits.
- Engineered with sophisticated electronic sensing, the EPD breaker monitors the balance between the hot and neutral conductors. If it detects a leakage to ground exceeding 30mA, it trips the circuit in milliseconds. This high-speed reaction prevents internal component arcing and localized heating that could otherwise lead to catastrophic equipment failure or electrical fires.
