Description
Amp-Trap 2000® AJT fuses provide non-indication as well as a SmartSpot visual open fuse indicator. With advanced material technology the AJT fuse provides IEC Type 2 No Damage protection to main, feeder, and branch circuits, for all types of loads — yet, they require only half the mounting space needed for 600VAC Class RK fuses. AJT’s time-delay characteristics are ideal for handling typical motor and transformer inrush currents, while also providing superior current-limiting ability.
Features
- The AJT30 is a 30-Amp, 600V AC/500V DC Class J time-delay fuse from Mersen’s Amp-Trap 2000® series. A standout feature is its SmartSpot visual blown-fuse indicator. If the fuse blows, a high-visibility red spot appears on the label, allowing maintenance teams to identify the fault at a glance without having to pull and test every fuse in the cabinet.
- Specifically designed for inductive loads, the AJT30 provides superior time-delay characteristics. It allows for the massive momentary current surges associated with motor startups and transformer energization to pass through without "nuisance tripping," while still providing ultra-fast protection against real overcurrent and short-circuit events.
- The AJT30 is a highly current-limiting fuse. In the event of a catastrophic fault, it reacts in less than half a cycle, drastically reducing the "peak let-through" energy. With a 200,000 Amp interrupting rating, it helps lower the Arc Flash hazard and protects downstream components like contactors and solid-state starters from destructive thermal forces.
- Class J fuses like the AJT30 are significantly smaller than equivalent Class R fuses (roughly half the size). This smaller physical footprint allows for more compact fuse blocks and disconnect switches, saving valuable "real estate" in high-density industrial control panels and automation cabinets.
- Constructed with a high-grade fiberglass body and silver-plated copper contact caps, the AJT30 ensures excellent dimensional stability and electrical conductivity. It is UL Listed to Standard 248-8 and CSA Certified, making it a primary choice for meeting NEC® and CEC® requirements for branch circuit protection in industrial and commercial power systems.
