By minimizing the need to open the enclosure while the circuit is live, it enhances worker safety and simplifies routine preventative maintenance inspections in high-voltage areas.
- The spring-loaded operating mechanism enforces a rapid opening and closing of the contacts regardless of how fast the operator moves the handle. This "Quick-Make, Quick-Break" action ensures a clean break of the electrical arc, preventing pitting on the copper contacts and dramatically extending the mechanical and electrical life of the switch.
