• The Schneider Square D QO115CAFI is a 15-Amp, single-pole Combination Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter. Unlike standard breakers that only trip during overloads, this "smart" breaker uses an internal microprocessor to detect dangerous, low-energy arcing the kind that occurs behind walls from a loose wire or a pierced cable stopping electrical fires before they even start.
• This is a "Combination" AFCI, meaning it provides two levels of protection: Parallel Arc detection (between two wires or a wire and ground) and Series Arc detection (arcing across a break in a single conductor). This comprehensive coverage is a mandatory requirement for almost all branch circuits in modern Canadian residential bedrooms, living areas, and hallways.
• This is the Plug-On Neutral (PoN) model. It is designed to snap directly onto the neutral bar of a compatible Square D QO Plug-on Neutral load center. This eliminates the "pigtail" white wire, resulting in a much cleaner panel interior, more room for wiring, and a faster installation for electricians.
• Like all QO breakers, it features the Visi-TripTM red indicator for easy identification. Additionally, it includes Time Saver Diagnostics, a sequence of LED blinks that tells you exactly why the breaker tripped (e.g., a series arc vs. a parallel arc). This allows you to identify the specific location of the fault in the house rather than guessing.
• Rated for 15 Amps and 120V, this breaker is the standard size for residential lighting and outlet circuits. It occupies a single 3/4-inch space in your QO panel.
