Features
- The Schneider Electric LC1D40ABD is a 3-pole TeSys Deca (formerly TeSys D) contactor designed for heavy-duty motor control and power switching. It is engineered to handle the rigorous demands of Canadian industrial environments, providing reliable starting and stopping for motors, heating elements, and large lighting banks.
- Rated for 40 Amps (AC-3), this contactor is built for significant loads. In a standard Canadian 3-phase system, it can safely control a motor up to 30 HP at 600V or 25 HP at 480V. For non-inductive resistive loads (AC-1), such as industrial heaters, its capacity increases to 60 Amps.
- The "BD" suffix is critical it indicates a 24V DC control coil. Unlike standard AC coils, this DC coil features a built-in bidirectional peak-limiting diode suppressor as standard. This protects sensitive PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) outputs from the "flyback" voltage spikes that occur when the contactor turns off, making it the preferred choice for modern automated systems in Canada.
- The LC1D40ABD comes standard with 1 Normally Open (NO) and 1 Normally Closed (NC) auxiliary contact. These are used to provide logic feedback to the control system (e.g., "Motor is running" or "System is faulted") without requiring the purchase of additional add-on blocks.
- This model features Schneider s patented EverLinkTM terminal technology. This system uses a spring-reinforced screw lug that maintains constant pressure on the wire, even as the copper expands and contracts over time. This prevents the "loose wire" failures common in high-vibration Canadian industries like mining or forestry and eliminates the need for periodic re-torqueing.
