- The Schneider Electric GV2P21 is a 3-pole TeSys Deca Manual Motor Starter and Protector. It is a specialized device that combines the functions of a circuit breaker (short-circuit protection), a manual disconnect switch, and a thermal overload relay into one compact 45mm unit. It is engineered to protect 3-phase motors from overcurrent, phase loss, and short circuits in Canadian industrial environments.
- The GV2P21 features an adjustable thermal setting range of 17 to 23 Amps. Using the dial on the front, you can precisely calibrate the protection to match your motor's Full Load Amps (FLA) found on the nameplate. This precise adjustment prevents motor burnout from long-term overloads while allowing the motor to run at its rated capacity without nuisance tripping.
- Unlike the push-button "ME" versions, the "P" series utilizes a rotary handle. This handle provides a clear visual indication of the device status (ON, OFF, or TRIPPED). For safety compliance in Canada, the handle is padlockable in the "OFF" position, making it a critical component for Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures during machine servicing.
- The GV2P21 is built for high-demand applications, offering a high breaking capacity of 50kA at 400/415V. This ensures that the device can safely interrupt even massive short-circuit currents without exploding or damaging the upstream electrical infrastructure, providing "Type 2" coordination for your facility.
- This motor protector includes inherent phase-failure sensitivity. If one phase of your 3-phase power drops out (a common cause of rapid motor failure), the GV2P21 will detect the imbalance and trip the circuit almost instantly. This protection is a standard requirement for maintaining the lifespan of expensive industrial motors.
