Description
Amp-Trap 2000® AJT fuses provide non-indication as well as a SmartSpot visual open fuse indicator. With advanced material technology the AJT fuse provides IEC Type 2 No Damage protection to main, feeder, and branch circuits, for all types of loads — yet, they require only half the mounting space needed for 600VAC Class RK fuses. AJT’s time-delay characteristics are ideal for handling typical motor and transformer inrush currents, while also providing superior current-limiting ability.
Features
- The AJT70 is a 70-Amp, 600V AC Class J dual-element, time-delay fuse. Part of Mersen’s premium Amp-Trap 2000® line, it is designed to provide "Type 2" (No-Damage) protection. This means that in the event of a fault, the fuse protects downstream components like motor starters and contactors so effectively that they remain operational once the fuse is replaced.
- The AJT70 is engineered with a time-delay characteristic (minimum 10 seconds at 500% of the rated current). This allows it to handle the high "inrush" currents associated with starting large industrial motors or energizing transformers, while still providing high-speed clearing of dangerous short circuits.
- It carries a massive 200,000 Amp Interrupting Rating (AIC). This is the highest standard rating available, ensuring the fuse can safely extinguish a catastrophic short circuit in heavy industrial, mining, or manufacturing facilities without the risk of the fuse body rupturing.
- The AJT70 is highly current-limiting. It reacts so fast to a short circuit (clearing in less than half a cycle) that it physically prevents the current from reaching its maximum destructive peak. This drastically reduces the "let-through" energy (I^2t), protecting VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives) and other solid-state devices from thermal damage.
- This model features Mersen's SmartSpot™ technology. When the fuse blows, a red indicator appears on the label. This allows maintenance teams to identify the failed circuit at a glance without needing to test every fuse in the cabinet with a meter, significantly reducing downtime in busy plants.
