Description
Features
- The LRD16 is a TeSys Deca (formerly TeSys D) differential thermal overload relay. It acts as the "sentinel" for your motor, protecting it from overheating caused by sustained overloads or phase failures. It is designed to sit between the contactor and the motor, monitoring the current and tripping the control circuit before the motor windings suffer permanent damage.
- This model features an adjustable dial with a range of 9 to 13 Amperes. To set it correctly, you rotate the dial to the Full Load Amps (FLA) value found on your motor's nameplate. As a Class 10A device, it is engineered to trip in 10 seconds or less at 7.2 times the set current, providing the standard protection required for most industrial and commercial motors.
- The LRD16 is designed for "direct mounting" beneath Schneider TeSys Deca contactors, specifically models LC1D12 through LC1D38. It features three rigid copper pins that plug directly into the contactor's load terminals, creating a single, rigid motor starter unit. If you need to mount it away from the contactor on a DIN rail, you must use a separate terminal block (LAD7B106).
- This relay is "differential," meaning it is highly sensitive to phase imbalance. If one phase drops out (single-phasing) or if there is a significant voltage difference between phases, the internal mechanism trips faster than it would for a standard overload. This is critical for preventing the rapid, destructive heat buildup that occurs when a three-phase motor tries to run on only two phases.
- he unit includes integrated auxiliary contacts (1 NO + 1 NC) used to signal a fault to a PLC or to cut the power to the contactor's coil. It also features a red "Stop/Test" button and a blue "Reset" selector that allows for two modes: Manual (H): Stays tripped until a human physically resets it (the safest mode for troubleshooting). Automatic (A): Resets itself automatically once the internal components cool down.
