Description
Features
- The LRD12 is a TeSys Deca (formerly TeSys D) differential thermal overload relay. Its primary function is to protect three-phase AC motors from overheating due to overloads or phase failures. It monitors the current flowing to the motor and trips the circuit if the heat reaches a level that could damage the motor windings.
- This model features an adjustable current dial with a range of 5.5 to 8 Amperes. You simply rotate the dial to match the Full Load Amps (FLA) listed on your motor's nameplate. It is a Class 10A relay, meaning it is designed to trip within 10 seconds or less at 7.2 times the setting, which is the industry standard for general-purpose motor protection.
- The LRD12 is specifically designed for "direct mounting" beneath Schneider TeSys Deca contactors, including models LC1D09 through LC1D38. The pins on the top of the LRD12 plug directly into the load terminals of the contactor, creating a space-saving, integrated motor starter assembly. It can also be DIN-rail mounted using a separate terminal block (LAD7B106).
- This is a differential relay, meaning it can detect an imbalance between the three phases. If one phase loses power (single-phasing), the internal mechanism reacts more quickly than a standard relay to shut down the motor, preventing the rapid heat buildup that is a leading cause of industrial motor burnout.
- The unit includes integrated auxiliary contacts (1 NO + 1 NC) to signal a fault to a controller or cut power to the contactor coil. It features a red "Stop" button and a blue "Reset" selector that allows you to choose between: Manual (H): The relay stays tripped until a technician pushes the reset button (recommended for safety). Automatic (A): The relay resets itself once the internal bimetallic strips have cooled down.
- The LRD12 is UL Listed, CSA Certified, and CE marked. It features IP20 "finger-safe" screw clamp terminals and is designed for millions of operations in demanding environments like pump stations, HVAC systems, and conveyor belts.
